This outdoor fire pit was left for dead at the end of someone’s driveway so of course we stopped the truck, loaded her in and brought her back to our summer place, where campfires happen on a regular basis. We promised her she was going to get a new look and a new life!
Here is how we transformed this tired old fire pit from rusty to glamorous in less than an hour!
Sand rusty areas with sandpaper specifically for use on metal until smooth.
Wipe the fire pit down with a lint-free rag or tack cloth so it is free of metal debris from sanding.
Tape the insides of the fire pit doors and any open vents with newspaper or craft paper to ensure the paint or overspray does not get inside of the fire pit.
Now get ready to spray! Two coats of paint gave this tired old fire pit the perfect finish. Allow the piece to dry in between coats, and ensure the paint has dried fully before using!
